The sudden crash
not only made me cut back on my upcoming travel budget,
but I even reopened Pinduoduo (PDD) to prepare to order instant noodles online.
When the market is bad, every little bit helps.
Last night, I chatted with friends about the AI we've been using lately,
and we touched on a very real issue: the cost of using AI.
We discovered a very interesting phenomenon: the free version of GPT and the paid version of GPT are completely different! The GO version and the PRO version are also completely different.
Since the experience difference between different versions is so significant, when we choose to call AI models via API to save money, how can we be sure that the service provider is actually providing the model we paid for?
The same model ID may be used by different service providers with different versions, different precision, and even issues such as tool call failures and context reduction. Even more troublesome is that these problems may not be reflected in the API's return results.
To address this issue, Mira Network (@miranetwork) launched Sterling, which provides a proven inference service.
Mira continuously performs five checks on the service providers behind each model, including model identity, tool calls, parameter compliance, silent failures, and context length, and publicly verifies the scores. Sterling then prioritizes routing requests to verified service providers based on the verification results.
Currently, Claude, GPT, and Gemini are initially supported, with DeepSeek and GLM coming soon.
Usage requires only one API Key, supports USDC or MIRA payments, and offers discounts of up to 50% on some models during their initial launch period.
I believe that as AI develops, the focus should not only be on how powerful the model is, but also on whether the inference service behind the model is genuine, stable, and trustworthy.
After all, while a bad market can mean missing out on a few good meals, when paying for AI services, one should at least ensure that they are buying the service they truly want.
