Gödel, Turing, Kant, and BTC: In the Age of Big Models, What Are We Really Using?
/ The Boundary Between Language and Computation: No matter how powerful a Big Model (LLM) is, it is essentially a "language machine." From Gödel's formal systems to the Turing machine, symbolic systems are always just "pointing fingers at the moon," not the moon itself. They can achieve complete grammatical rules (Type O culture), but language can never replace physical entities outside of language. Mathematics, computers, and Big Models are essentially adding "buffs" to human language tools, speeding up communication, but they cannot cross boundaries.
/ Why is it said that "things-in-themselves are unknowable"? Kant's statement that "things-in-themselves are unknowable" has its root in modern physics: the irreversibility of time in the second law of thermodynamics. The real physical world is "computationally irreducible." Information cannot exist independently of its carrier; things-in-themselves can only be known by themselves; no symbolic system can completely reduce reality.
/ Big Models lack the concept of "security." Many people discuss the security of LLM (Language Modeling), but strictly speaking, language itself is not inherently secure. Security depends on the medium (thing-in-itself) of the language. For example, when using large models for autonomous driving, security doesn't depend on how perfect the model's responses are, but rather on whether the underlying physical engineering (craftsmanship) converges to the irreversible laws of time.
/ Why is the Bitcoin (BTC) system called "complete"? BTC differs from purely large models/language information. It is complete because it not only contains linguistic information but also truly connects to "thing-in-itself"—it consumes real matter and energy that follow thermodynamic irreversibility (PoW mechanism), breaking the void of purely symbolic systems.
/ In summary, large models expand the upper limit of human language expression but cannot break the ironclad laws of thermodynamics and Gödel's incompleteness theorems. Computers and AI are transforming human language, while the real physical world continues to operate quietly outside of symbols.
