[Amazon, Tesla, and SpaceX Oppose Joining ICE's Tokenized Stock Trading Platform] Odaily reports that Amazon, Tesla, and SpaceX have joined the ranks of companies opposing the tokenized stock trading platform launched by the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, in partnership with OKX. According to a public notice updated on November 2nd, Netflix, SoFi Technologies, and Lam Research have also filed objections, bringing the total number of publicly disclosed opposing companies to 56, an increase of 6 from last Friday.
The platform plans to allow investors to trade tokenized versions of U.S. stocks 24/7 on a blockchain-based exchange using stablecoins. It intends to operate under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) five-year "innovation exemption," allowing eligible exchanges to use an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism for order matching.
Statistics show that of the 62 companies initially selected by OKX and ICE, 49 (approximately 79%) have filed objections, with another 7 non-initial selected companies also objecting. According to SEC rules, companies have 30 days to object after receiving written notification from the exchange. For issuers who received notification on October 4th, the deadline may expire on November 3rd, but the exact deadline depends on when each company actually receives the notification.
OKX and ICE co-chairman and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo previously stated that many companies want to observe how the market actually operates before deciding whether to participate. He believes that as companies gradually understand the advantages of tokenization, more companies will join in the future. (CoinDesk)
