[Japanese Internet Giant Attacked, Hackers Demand Bitcoin Ransom, Company Executives Refusal to Pay] BlockBeats reported on October 28th, citing Nada News, that GMO Group, a Japanese internet giant, suffered unauthorized access to its cloud desktop service, potentially affecting 26,739 servers. The hackers demanded ransom in BTC and ETH, claiming that GMO's cryptocurrency exchange could immediately prepare funds, and threatened to continue abnormal trading in victim accounts and publicly release user data. The initial ransom demand was $50 million, later reduced to $1 million. GMO Group representative Masatoshi Kumagai explicitly stated that he refused to compromise and had not paid any money. GMO Coin, its cryptocurrency exchange, also confirmed that no abnormal activity was detected in customer accounts. Although the hackers subsequently released some data and threatened daily updates, the website hosting the leaked information was shut down on the morning of October 28th. [Original Link]
