Bipartisan legislation directing the Commerce Dept. to conduct a study on the costs, benefits, and feasibility of manufacturing any high-demand product in the U.S. that is being imported due to a manufacturing, material, or supply chain constraint was signed into law today by President Trump. The Critical Infrastructure Manufacturing Feasibility Act, which will also identify ways to help domestic producers manufacture these products in rural areas and industrial parks, first passed the House in April 2025 and the Senate last month, both by voice votes. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/2026/10/congressional-bills-h-r-227-h-r-837-h-r-1721-h-r-2388-h-r-2481-h-r-3620-h-r-4307-h-r-4467-h-r-6380-and-h-r-7831-signed-into-law/
