Microsoft, Alphabet (Google's parent company), Goldman Sachs, and seven other publicly listed companies have opposed the trading of tokenized versions of their stocks on the joint venture platform OKXICE, created by OKX and the New York Stock Exchange's parent company ICE. According to an October 19 update from OKXICE, new opponents now include Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, and Western Digital, bringing the total number of companies raising objections from 9 to 16. Previously, companies like Broadcom, Verizon, and CoreWeave had also expressed opposition. OKXICE plans to launch 24/7 tokenized stock trading under the U.S. SEC's "innovation exemption" framework, using stablecoins for settlement and backing the tokens 1:1 with actual stocks. This framework allows issuers to object to their stocks being tokenized on specific platforms, though the specific reasons for opposition from these companies have not yet been disclosed. (CoinDesk)
