The U.S. stock market is pretty divided right now. The strong stocks are still strong, while the weaker ones are just following the Nasdaq's movements.
AI/semiconductors are showing divergence—there are still opportunities, but you need to buy the strong stocks!
In the short term, I think the market leans bearish. Yesterday, the Nasdaq rebounded about 1.1%, and the semiconductor sector also saw a bounce, but most of it was erased this morning. This suggests yesterday’s rise was more like the first confirmation after an oversold rebound.
1. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield is still around 5.1%, and high interest rates are suppressing high-valuation growth stocks.
2. Crude oil remains high, hovering near $100, which continues to pressure the market.
Stocks to watch today:
**AMZN – Amazon**
Yesterday, it rose nearly 5% without showing signs of a sharp sell-off after a gap-up. It’s still holding around 262. Morgan Stanley just listed Amazon as a Top Pick and raised its target price to $350. The core logic is AWS growth and long-term profit growth driven by AI infrastructure. You can buy on a pullback to 262–253, with a stop-loss below 250.
**INTC – Intel**
INTC is currently around 90. After yesterday’s rise, it’s pulling back again in pre-market trading today. Earnings are coming after hours on October 22. AI demand and tight chip supply could lead to improved profitability.
You can watch around 90, but I don’t recommend heavy positions betting on earnings. If it climbs back above 94–95, it means funds are returning to INTC. If it drops below 88, it’s time to bail.
