Lido's Head of Engineering for Ethereum liquid staking protocol, Dima Gusakov, has issued a warning about potential staking deposit hijacking risks during the Glamsterdam upgrade. Malicious node operators could preemptively use the same public key to submit Builder deposits, causing subsequent ETH deposits made by staking protocols during the upgrade switch to be incorrectly credited to the Builder account controlled by the attacker, rather than the intended validator account. A related consensus specification fix proposal has been closed with a status of 'not planned.' Gusakov recommends staking protocols enhance deposit pre-checks. This risk primarily affects deposits that remain unprocessed during the hard fork switch, and there have been no reports of actual fund losses so far. Glamsterdam is set to activate on the Hoodi testnet on October 26, with the mainnet launch date yet to be determined. (Crypto Briefing)
