Most people say,
'I bought a stock and can hold it for ten years,'
but in reality, if it doesn’t go up in 10 days,
they can’t hold on anymore.
If those 10 days not only don’t see gains but instead see losses,
they’ll never mention that 'ten years' thing again.
That 'ten years' they talked about when they bought it
was just a way to fool themselves.
If you truly believe in an industry
and think it has great potential in the future,
and the company you’re buying
is a leader in that industry,
then short-term fluctuations
are indeed hard for us to predict.
Talking about controlling drawdowns is also unreliable.
Tell me, if you bought $BTC 6-7 years ago,
could you have controlled the drawdowns?
If you weren’t on the ride during 3/12,
chances are you wouldn’t be on it when it started to rise.
If you were on the ride during 3/12,
but the speed was too fast back then
and you added leverage,
chances are you’re not on the ride anymore now.
