[Ledger Launches Atom Android Device with New Anti-Tampering Protection Features]
BlockBeats News, October 15: Crypto hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger unveiled the Android device Atom at the Op3n event in Paris. The limited Founders Edition is priced at $849, requiring a $100 fully refundable deposit for pre-orders, with a regular retail price of $899 after launch. The device is expected to begin delivery in the summer of 2027, pending certification.
Atom uses an FPGA chip to isolate the Android environment from the secure mode used for transaction auditing and signing, while also supporting everyday Android applications. Solana Mobile plans to integrate its wallet and dApp Store into the Seeker app for Atom, with transaction signing handled by the secure mode. The device will also come pre-installed with OpenClaw, allowing users to review transactions proposed by AI agents via Agent Intent without exposing private keys to the agents.
In response to recent hardware wallet tampering incidents, Ledger stated that Atom can detect actions such as screen removal, casing disassembly, and core area drilling. The anti-tampering sensors are powered by an independent battery even when the device is turned off. The company claims its core protection features can prevent screen-reading implant attacks like those seen in recent incidents.
The device will be sold exclusively through Ledger's official website. [Original Link]
