Just read Deep Tide's article about Mixin, and I have to say, it really hit home. In 2023, Mixin suffered a hacker attack, losing around $150 million. Three years later, reports show that the $23 million USDT debt corresponding to MDTu has been fully repaid. In the crypto industry, actually putting up real money to fulfill promises isn’t easy. This deserves recognition. Recently, with security incidents involving wallets like Ledger, I’ve been diving into a question: if someone holds a large amount of BTC, what’s the best way to store it to minimize single-point failures? I’ve been discussing this with AI for days and realized that while hardware wallets are important, using an old iPhone for storage is also an option. But if asset security relies entirely on a single private key or device, there’s always a single-point risk. That’s why I’ve started researching 2/3 multisig setups using different brands of hardware wallets. Mixin Safe was also on my radar at the time. It combines three technologies: multisig, MPC, and time lock. The logic is that it creates a safe for your Bitcoin, requiring you and another group of custodians to unlock it together under normal circumstances. If one party loses their key, there’s a backup unlocking mechanism that can only be activated after a waiting period. Still keeping an eye on this security solution! And congrats to the folks who waited three years to get their compensation—it wasn’t easy!
