[WSJ: Tether Paid Over $6 Million to Bo Hines' Consulting Firm, Sparking Conflict of Interest Concerns] According to an investigation by The Wall Street Journal, former White House crypto advisor Bo Hines promoted the GENIUS Act while his co-founded and equity-holding consulting firm Nxum established business ties with Tether. The report, citing internal documents, communications, and payment receipts, states that Tether paid Nxum over $6 million, which was distributed among three partners. Although Hines stepped back from daily operations, he continued discussing the act with partners via Signal during his tenure. After the act was signed into law in July 2025, he resigned in August and was appointed CEO of Tether's U.S. stablecoin operations in September, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
