[Bloomberg: U.S. Stock Market May Move Toward 24/7 Trading, Round-the-Clock Market Faces Stress Test]
BlockBeats News, September 28, according to Bloomberg, as U.S. exchanges and financial institutions push to extend trading hours, the U.S. stock market is gradually moving toward a round-the-clock trading model. 24/7 trading will pose new challenges to the existing financial market infrastructure and trading mechanisms.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) previously announced the development of a blockchain-based digital securities platform, aiming to support tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs for 24/7 trading, fractional trading, and instant settlement. Recently, NYSE signed a memorandum of understanding with Blockchain.com, planning to provide the latter's users with a 24/7 trading channel for tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, though regulatory approval is still required.
At the same time, the expansion of traditional trading markets to round-the-clock operations will bring new challenges in areas such as liquidity, price discovery, market monitoring, clearing and settlement, and investor protection. Market participants are gradually testing whether traditional securities markets can adapt to a continuous trading model similar to that of crypto markets.
