President Trump brought up the story of 'calling Musk for Starlink' again.
The background: In September 2024, Hurricane Helen turned the western mountains of North Carolina into a communication dead zone. During his visit to assess the disaster, President Trump said he would call Musk to request Starlink. On October 1, Musk confirmed on X that SpaceX was sending Starlink terminals to the disaster area. FEMA later disclosed that 40 units were already in use, 140 were en route, and SpaceX independently deployed about 500 more systems, all free of charge.
One phone call, one friend, one batch of equipment—saved countless lives!
If a private company can do it, why can’t the federal system? That’s why the President later established DOGE, aiming to improve government efficiency.
