[SEC to Decide on Confidentiality and Review Speed for Crypto ETF Filings, Grayscale, A16z, Jane Street, and Charles Schwab Hold Divergent Views] Odaily Planet Daily News: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has publicly released its responses to requests for comments regarding 'Novel ETFs,' which include funds that may hold crypto assets or adopt unconventional strategies. The debate centers around whether filing documents should remain confidential before the fund begins trading and how quickly the review process should proceed. Crypto asset management firm Grayscale and crypto policy organization Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI) support an optional confidential filing period to reduce the risk of competitors submitting imitative filings. Charles Schwab opposes full confidentiality, suggesting that filing documents should be made public at least 75 days in advance. Grayscale has requested the SEC to respond within 45 days, while CCI advocates that the confidentiality process should not extend the automatic effective date or review period. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) supports shortening the review timeline but emphasizes that the rigor of the review process should not be compromised. Trading firm Jane Street, on the other hand, argues that accelerating the process could negatively impact product quality, competitiveness, and liquidity. Currently, there are 174 ETFs in the U.S. related to crypto assets. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) manages approximately $61 billion in assets, accounting for about 38% of the total assets of related ETFs. The SEC will decide whether to adjust the confidentiality arrangements and review speed for filings. (Bitcoin.com News)
