Jing Tian probably hasn’t read *Island Economics*. Her understanding of transactions is still stuck in the most basic form of instant exchange: money is paid, a relationship is formed, and the deal is done. But Justin Sun is from the crypto world, and his understanding is clearly based on a different framework. The money paid today is essentially pricing future relationships, commitments, and expectations. One thought it was a spot transaction, while the other thought they were buying a futures contract. So in Justin Sun’s version, when the $50 million figure came up and he went to ask Claude whether he should pay, it actually made perfect sense. AI doesn’t understand love, but AI understands risk control. Humans will keep doubling down because of emotions, sunk costs, and commitments. AI won’t. AI is just a cold, emotionless decision-making machine that looks at the risk-reward ratio and tells you: don’t pay. Brother Sun showed everyone with his actions that sunk costs don’t factor into major decisions.
