[South Korean National Police Agency's Fourth Round of Virtual Asset Custodian Selection Attracts Bids from 7 Companies, Budget Increased to 267 Million KRW] According to South Korean media reports, the South Korean National Police Agency is currently conducting proposal evaluations to select a private institution to manage seized virtual assets, with the contractor expected to be finalized as early as this week. Over the past two years, the police conducted three rounds of bidding, all of which ended in failure. This was primarily due to large enterprises being unable to participate due to qualification restrictions (e.g., limited to small and micro enterprises) and budget constraints. In the fourth round of bidding, the scope of eligible companies was expanded, and the budget increased 3.2 times compared to the previous year, reaching 267 million KRW. A total of seven companies submitted bids, including Vidax, Koda, KDAC, Upbit Custody, Hecto Wallet One, DSRV, and AhnLab Blockchain Company.
