Adecoagro, supported by Tether, will launch a sugarcane bagasse powered Bitcoin mining business in Brazil According to FinnceFeeds, Adecoagro, a large South American agricultural company supported by Tether, plans to launch a Bitcoin mining business driven by sugarcane processing electricity in Brazil, with an initial capacity of 10 megawatts and approximately 1280 mining machines. It is expected to start around July 1, 2026. Adecoagro's business covers sugar, ethanol, rice, dairy products, and renewable energy, and Tether previously acquired a majority stake in the company. The mining project will use electricity generated from sugarcane bagasse, which has over 230 megawatts of renewable energy generation capacity in South America. Brazil is one of the world's largest sugarcane producing countries, with mature ethanol and bioenergy industries. If the pilot is successful, other agricultural and renewable energy producers may consider mining as a flexible source of surplus electricity demand.
