A small town in Brazil has gone viral for its wax museum featuring famous figures. Brazilian sculptor Arlindo Armacollo became locally famous for creating wax figures of well-known figures such as Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, and Pope John Paul II. First displayed in the town of Rolândia, the collection later went viral online, drawing attention and debate over the statues’ unusual realism. One visiting reporter remarked, “It might look simple, but achieving this level of detail took real work,” adding that Armacollo aimed “to capture not only the appearance, but also the soul of each person.” Armacollo largely brushed aside the criticism, saying, “I couldn’t care less about it,” while explaining, “I make these works because I enjoy doing them… If people like them, they can visit. If they don’t, they don’t have to. Why worry?” His figures, crafted with wax and imported glass eyes, are now exhibited in a museum named after his father, alongside newer additions including Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II.(Historic Vids)
