[Project Eleven Warns Quantum Critical Point May 'Erupt Suddenly,' Q-Day Expected as Early as 2030] According to The Block, Project Eleven, which focuses on post-quantum security, has released a report warning that the critical point at which quantum computers could break modern encryption, known as 'Q-Day,' may arrive as early as 2030, with a probability exceeding 50% by 2033. The report predicts that advancements in quantum computing will be explosive rather than gradual and nonlinear, with the combined effects of hardware and algorithms potentially leading to a 'no progress or sudden eruption' leap in capabilities. Last month, researchers used quantum hardware to derive a 15-digit elliptic curve key. While this is still far from breaking the 256-bit encryption used by Bitcoin, it serves as preliminary validation. Project Eleven estimates that approximately 6.9 million Bitcoins could face quantum risks under specific conditions.
