Umbra shuts down front-end website to prevent stolen fund transfers

According to Cointelegraph, the privacy protocol Umbra has shut down its front-end website to prevent attackers from using its protocol to transfer approximately $800000 in stolen funds. Umbra stated that its protocol only protects the identity of the recipient, and all transferred funds can be identified. This move occurred several days after the Kelp protocol was attacked (with losses exceeding $280 million), with reports indicating that attackers attempted to bridge funds from Ethereum to Bitcoin through protocols such as Umbra. Umbra has placed the hosted frontend in maintenance mode and is awaiting confirmation that it will not affect recovery work. However, it cannot prevent others from using its smart contract or open-source frontend.
