[JAN3 CEO Criticizes Bitcoin Quantum Security Proposal as Too Hasty: Blind Upgrades Could Trigger Risks of Classical Computing Attacks] Odaily Planet Daily News: JAN3 CEO Samson Mow posted on the X platform, stating that the current response to Bitcoin's quantum computing (QC) threat should not be rushed. Hastily switching from the existing signature mechanism to post-quantum (PQ) solutions could instead expose Bitcoin to risks of classical computing attacks in the short term. PQ signatures may increase in size by 10 to 125 times, significantly reducing network throughput and potentially reigniting scaling debates similar to the early 'block size wars.' Additionally, Samson Mow warned that some PQ solutions might carry potential backdoor risks. The quantum computing threat remains a medium- to long-term issue (possibly requiring 10 to 20 years), and the more reasonable approach at present is to continue research rather than rushing deployment. He also specifically pointed out Coinbase, stating that its wallet's address reuse poses vulnerabilities to quantum attacks and recommended prioritizing fixes to related infrastructure issues.
