[Chinese Government Advisors Call for Setting 'Red Lines' for AI Applications to Prevent Employment Impact and Data Security Risks]
Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 26 — According to the South China Morning Post, at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, several Chinese government advisors urged the government to establish clear 'red lines' for the development and application of artificial intelligence. Jiang Xiaojuan, Director of the National Data Expert Advisory Committee and former Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, stated that AI applications solely aimed at reducing labor costs, without improving service quality or promoting environmental sustainability, must be approached with caution. The deployment of AI cannot be left entirely to market forces, and when technology causes extreme harm to people, the government must intervene. Xue Lan, Dean of the Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University and Director of the Institute for AI International Governance, also suggested at the forum that clear boundaries should be set for AI applications.
