El Salvador: Launches 'Bitcoin Country' Passport, Holders Enjoy Up to 10% Discount El Salvador is rolling out the 'Bitcoin Country' passport program, where holders can enjoy up to a 10% discount at merchants that support Bitcoin payments (like hotels and restaurants). The promotion is valid until February 28. Since June 2021, when El Salvador's Congress approved President Nayib Bukele's proposal, the country became the first in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. El Salvador also offers a citizenship program through cryptocurrency investment. Up to 1,000 applicants per year can invest $1 million in Bitcoin or USDT to obtain citizenship.
