BESSENT SAYS WHITE HOUSE MAY 'VETO' FEDERAL RESERVE PRESIDENTS: ABC
Bessent said he will push for Federal Reserve regional bank presidents to have lived in their districts for at least three years before taking office — a change that would give the White House more influence over the Fed.
Speaking at the NYT DealBook Summit, Bessent said there is a “disconnect” in how the Fed is structured and vowed to veto nominees who don’t meet the residency rule. His remarks follow criticism of regional Fed presidents who opposed rate cuts that President Trump has been urging.(*Walter Bloomberg)
