Recently, with @defidotapp's second season coming to an end, I've been actively trading on the platform to rack up XP. Honestly, their 'MID' order feature is pretty practical. The key advantage of Limit MID orders is that they let you 'stand in the middle and earn the spread.' In traditional trading, you're either taking buy orders or sell orders, but MID orders allow your order price to sit right in the middle of the bid-ask spread. ————————————————————————— Execution logic: Say a token's buy price is 10 and sell price is 10.2—you can place a MID order at 10.1. When someone is willing to trade at this price, you avoid the high costs of directly taking orders and get a better fill price than the market rate. Clear cost advantages: 1️⃣ No taker fees: Traditional market orders usually charge a 0.1-0.3% fee. 2️⃣ Avoid slippage losses: Especially in volatile markets, large orders can easily result in 5-10% slippage. 3️⃣ Better average cost: By filling orders in batches at mid-range prices, you lower your overall holding cost. ————————————————————————— MID orders are most effective in high-volatility environments. When the market experiences rapid fluctuations, the bid-ask spread can widen significantly, and slippage on traditional market orders can reach several percentage points. Meanwhile, MID orders can still execute at relatively stable mid-range prices. @defidotapp's mechanism is particularly valuable in the DeFi space, where on-chain trading comes with higher gas fees and MEV attack risks compared to centralized exchanges. With MID orders, you're essentially trading time for cost savings, letting natural market fluctuations fulfill your trading intentions.
