According to Fortune, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that since Trump took office as president, there has been a "climate shift" in the relationship between Silicon Valley and Washington, and called the new administration's pro tech policies "fresh air". Altman criticized the Biden administration for being unfriendly to the technology industry and supported Trump's low regulatory policies. Altman has shifted from early criticism of Trump for "inciting racial discrimination and conspiracy theories" to public support and donating $1 million to Trump's inauguration fund. He also announced the Stargate AI infrastructure plan worth $500 billion in collaboration with Trump, emphasizing that the US technology industry can now revive semiconductor manufacturing, robotics factories, and data centers. The technology industry as a whole is moving closer to the Trump administration, with Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichai, and Tim Cook all attending Trump's January inauguration ceremony. In addition, Meta has cancelled third-party fact checking, reduced its DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program, and promoted a "masculine culture" as measures to improve relations with the Trump administration.
