Talking about Pons @ponsdotfamily
Its biggest risk is not technology, nor is it how long Vlad's attention can last.
But rather that the entire economic system is too centered around PONS.
Pons's products are not bad.
No migration, liquidity is automatically locked, creators receive 70% of transaction fees, and the protocol gets 30%.
Of which 80% of protocol revenue will be used to buy back and burn PONS.
This design is comfortable for PONS holders.
But for the entire ecosystem, it may not be a good thing.
Because with every new popular project and every increase in transaction volume, it ultimately helps PONS capture value.
Projects are fighting tirelessly on the front lines.
Market makers put in money, control the market, operate, find KOLs, and engage the community.
In the end, PONS sits in the back, automatically claiming the spoils.
What’s more troublesome is that PONS will compete with projects on the platform for the same pool of funds and attention.
When everyone realizes that buying PONS is equivalent to buying the entire launch platform, why would they still take the risk to research the 800th new coin below?
The possible outcome could be:
PONS becomes stronger.
The projects below become more like consumables.
This is equally unattractive to strong market makers.
Market makers are willing to help the platform create a leader because they can gain greater profit from chips, spread benefits, and long-term interests.
If after all the hard work a big project is made, but the biggest long-term beneficiary is the platform coin, then the market maker is likely to just take a shot and not stay to build the ecosystem.
So the launch platform battle on Robinhood cannot only focus on which platform coin is performing well.
The platform that can truly win must first nourish a group of market makers, project teams, and KOLs, let these people make money, and then repeatedly bring back funds and traffic.
Platform coins can collect taxes.
But they can't turn all projects into laborers for the platform coin.
This is also the most contradictory part of Pons:
PONS may win the platform coin war, but Pons may not necessarily win the launch platform war.
This is not fud, just personal insight, everyone dyor
