The U.S. OFAC has issued General License X for Iran, which is valid until August 21, 2026.

As of 12:01 AM Eastern Time on August 21, 2026, it authorizes transactions that are typically incidental and necessary for the production, sale, delivery, or discharge of Iranian-origin crude oil, petrochemical products, and petroleum products under the relevant sanctions regulations, including transactions involving sanctioned vessels.

The license also covers services related to safe berthing, crew safety, emergency repairs, environmental protection, vessel management, crewing, fueling, pilotage, registration, flagging, insurance, classification, and salvage; it allows the import of relevant products into the United States when necessary and permits payments in U.S. dollars to Iran, the Iranian government, or sanctioned individuals for goods.

Certain transactions involving North Korea, Cuba, Crimea, and specific regions of Ukraine remain excluded.
