Coin Market Observation Bureau × Hong Kong Wang Fu Gui: From TVB Voice Actor to Web3 KOL, Where Does He See Opportunities for Ordinary People?

In many people's impressions, Wang Fugui from Hong Kong is a Web3 KOL with hundreds of thousands of followers, and he is also the person who once challenged "to survive for seven days using only cryptocurrency" in Hong Kong together with Dog Brother. However, defining him simply as a "blogger" is obviously far from enough.

He has worked as a Mandarin voice actor for TVB and recorded a large amount of voice content for brands such as DJI; before coming to Hong Kong, he was also a food blogger with over 400 shop exploration video works. Now, he has become a content creator active in the Web3 community, RWA track, and personal IP field.

These seemingly unrelated identities actually have only one common point in his view: continuously exploring new possibilities.

This issue mainly discusses: the changes in Hong Kong's Web3 ecosystem over the past three years, whether stablecoins and RWA will truly change future finance, and what opportunities ordinary people can seize during this cycle.

From Voice Actor to Web3 KOL, Life Has No Standard Answers

Wang Fugui does not like others to label him. He believes that people are inherently complex. Today he can be a voice actor, tomorrow he can be a content creator, and in the future, it is not excluded that he might start his own business.

In the past few years, he has maintained a "slash-style" existence: doing voiceovers during the day, operating a Twitter account, researching projects, and participating in the community during his spare time. Compared to entering a company for a fixed salary, he enjoys the freshness brought by continuously trying different identities more.

In his view, one of the greatest charms of Web3 is that it allows everyone to find their own place.

A "Cryptocurrency Survival Challenge" That Made Him See Real Changes in the Industry

If there is any experience that truly made more people recognize Wang Fugui from Hong Kong, it must be the "Seven Day Cryptocurrency Survival Challenge" initiated by him and Dog Brother.

Three years ago, they attempted to use only cryptocurrency for consumption in Hong Kong within a budget of $2000 for seven days. On the first night, they couldn’t find accommodation that supported cryptocurrency payments, so they had to sit in McDonald's for an entire night; to have a meal, they needed to ask each merchant whether they accepted Bitcoin; transportation could only rely on drivers willing to accept digital currency. They inquired with over 200 offline merchants, most of whom gave negative responses.

However, just three years later, the situation has noticeably changed. More and more restaurants in Hong Kong have begun to accept stablecoin payments, and some merchants have even partnered with related RWA projects, preparing for application scenarios after the future implementation of Hong Kong's stablecoin regulatory framework.

In his view, the real landing of Web3 is not about price fluctuations but one day, when people can use stablecoins to complete payments as naturally as swiping a bank card.

What Stablecoins Truly Solve Is Not Payment, But Global Financial Efficiency

Regarding the currently hottest RWA (Real World Assets) track, Wang Fugui stated that stablecoins, themselves, are currently the biggest success case of RWA. He believes that on-chain assets do not merely mean moving houses, stocks, or bonds onto the chain, but rather reconstructing asset circulation efficiency through blockchain.

The tokenization of US stocks, on-chain bonds, and the digitization of real estate essentially enable global capital to flow faster and at a lower cost.

However, he also reminded everyone that the current RWA is still in a phase of gradually improving regulation. Many projects still face issues of asset authenticity, custody transparency, and legal frameworks. Before regulation is fully matured, ordinary investors should focus on the assets themselves rather than being simply attracted by the terms "on-chain."

The Information Gap Has Not Disappeared, It Has Just Transformed into a Cognitive Gap

Many people believe that as institutions enter the cryptocurrency industry, the information gap is disappearing. Wang Fugui does not completely agree. He feels that the true information gap is gradually evolving into a cognitive gap. The same news can lead to completely different conclusions depending on the background and upbringing of different people. Even in the highly open information environment of Hong Kong, the way each person accesses and digests information still has significant differences. There is no shortcut to narrowing this gap. It requires continuous learning, trial and error, and practice.

He admits that when he first entered the crypto world, he also experienced countless "bump against the wall" moments. 100x leverage liquidations, following trends to buy private placements, chasing hot NFTs, missing profit-taking opportunities... These experiences ultimately made him realize that finding an investment strategy that suits him is more important than how much money he can make.

If he does not have the ability to research on-chain projects, he should not participate blindly; if he is more suited to long-term holding, then he should focus on mainstream assets. Recognizing oneself is more important than chasing trends.

The True Opportunity for Ordinary People May Not Be Stablecoin Licenses

When discussing future opportunities, he particularly mentioned that many people focus on grand narratives such as stablecoin licenses and RWA infrastructure, but for ordinary people, that may not be the truly personal opportunity.

In comparison, he is more focused on prediction markets, personal IP, and various new careers emerging around the new ecosystem of Web3. For example, he is very optimistic about the development of prediction markets.

As large global prediction platforms continue to grow, he believes this may become an important new track in the future, and there are also many opportunities around the community, content, and research formed around prediction markets. As for investments, his advice is quite simple: if you do not have enough research ability, just buy a little mainstream coins.

In the Era of IP, Everyone Should Become Their Own Media

In addition to growth and entrepreneurship, Wang Fugui has been persistently doing another thing over the years: managing his content brand. From being a shop exploration blogger, then a voice actor, and now a Web3 KOL, he firmly believes that personal IP will become an increasingly important asset in the future. Many opportunities are not based on others believing in you after getting to know you, but rather on them being willing to know you after seeing your content over a long time.

He has also observed that more and more outstanding people are entering Web3 but do not know how to express themselves. They are not lacking in ability; they are lacking in continuous output. For newcomers wishing to enter the industry, his advice is very straightforward: you must do Twitter, you must create personal IP. If you don’t know how to do it, just look at how others are doing it and start doing it yourself.

In an era where information is becoming increasingly fragmented and attention is becoming increasingly scarce, continuous expression itself is a form of long-term compounding. And for ordinary people, perhaps the next truly timeless opportunity is not a particular coin or a trendy topic, but the establishment of a self that is worthy of being long-term followed and trusted by others.
