Today, a very popular #AI meme project #degenai. A friend asked me to take a look. Although it can achieve simple #AI automated trading, it is still too simple and singular.
We checked the #Github code. Let me briefly talk about this project.
Spartan is a DeFi quantitative trading agent based on #Solana, featuring a multi-plugin architecture that supports automated trading, intelligence gathering, community investment, LP management, AI model integration, and more. It has a front-end and back-end (React) display interface, emphasizing multi-platform (Discord, Telegram, Twitter) integration.
In terms of core advantages:
1️⃣ Technical Architecture and Capabilities
Multi-plugin architecture: Highly modular, easy to expand and maintain.
Multi-platform integration: Supports Discord, Telegram, Twitter, suitable for community-driven and automated operations.
Deep blockchain integration: Core is the Solana blockchain, capable of directly interacting with on-chain DEXs (Orca, Raydium, Meteora), with LP management and automated trading capabilities.
AI capabilities: Supports large model plugins like OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, with intelligent analysis and automated decision-making abilities.
Data analysis and visualization: Built-in data scraping, intelligence analysis, market trend tracking, and a React front-end for data visualization.
Task scheduling and caching: Built-in task system and data caching to enhance performance and automation levels.
2️⃣ Team Collaboration and Maintainability
Clear code structure: Distinct layers for plugins, services, tasks, front-end, etc., facilitating collaboration and later maintenance.
Testing system: Built-in Vitest testing to ensure functional reliability.
The drawbacks are also quite obvious:
1️⃣ Technical Stack Limitations
Single blockchain platform: Currently only supports Solana, with no support for mainstream chains like Ethereum (e.g., Web3.js/ethers.js), limiting extensibility.
Limited Python capabilities: The main code is in TypeScript/Node.js, with very little Python-related content, making it unsuitable for scenarios requiring the Python ecosystem.
2️⃣ Dependencies and Environmental Complexity
Many dependencies: Requires configuration of various API Keys (AI, DeFi, social platforms, databases, etc.), with many environment variables, resulting in a high entry barrier.
Security challenges: Involves sensitive information like private keys and API Keys, requiring extra attention to security during deployment.
3️⃣ Others
Documentation is somewhat brief: Although the structure is clear, there are few detailed use cases and plugin extension explanations, making it somewhat difficult for beginners to get started.
Crawling capabilities are not outstanding: While there is intelligence gathering, traditional crawling technologies like Scrapy/BeautifulSoup are not seen, relying more on APIs.
Overall, the score is only 57 points. Generally, we only consider #AI projects with scores above 80. As shown in the picture below. In the end, I think it's better to pass on this one. 😅
