Although DePin currently feels like it has entered a low point in the industry, there are still excellent products, especially with @iotex_io continuing to make efforts and investments. I have seen a new direction for DePin, which is to create a decentralized AWS (Amazon Web Services).

Many friends may immediately think of distributed storage solutions like Filecoin when they hear this concept, but in reality, the core value of AWS lies not only in storage but also in providing comprehensive cloud services, which include computing power, network transmission, CDN, VPN, security services, etc., with storage being just one application.

Therefore, it can be said that the actual service layer of a decentralized AWS is greater than that of Filecoin, combining storage, computing power, and network into a blockchain-based decentralized infrastructure. Moreover, this application has already been validated in Web2 and can generate real profits. Of course, in Web3, it can be implemented in a censorship-resistant and permissionless manner.

@ICN_Protocol is such a project. In fact, DePin is not about creating a new track but rather adding the concept of decentralization to the existing tracks of Web2. We have seen Web3 phones, Web3 watches, Web3 chargers, and even Web3 rings, all of which are decentralized upgrades based on existing Web2 products that have already been validated in real consumption scenarios.

The biggest advantage is that it is very easy for both Web2 and Web3 users to understand, the education cost is very low, and it is easy to expand into the Web2 world to earn income. What ICN is doing is essentially the work of traditional IDC, fundamentally introducing decentralized solutions that can even be seamless for traditional Web2 users.

Although we are all saying that we are currently in the Web3 domain, in reality, all Web3 devices, including servers, still need to connect to cloud service providers like AWS, which means decentralization is still under centralized services. Therefore, I personally remain very optimistic about this decentralized cloud infrastructure platform, as it at least allows for a real imaginative space for decentralization in Web3.
