When it comes to the topic of intermittent fasting, I do have some say in it. I started to get in touch with and try intermittent fasting in 2017. At that time, I began by skipping lunch every day, and my weight had reached an all-time high, probably over 170 pounds. Especially since I gain weight in my face first, once I get fat, my face turns into a "pancake."
The main reason I wanted to lose weight was that when I went to update my bank card, I couldn't pass the facial recognition. The photo on my ID was taken in 2008, when I was probably under 110 pounds. It took the bank manager coming out to verify me four or five times before it was resolved. That was when I decided to lose weight.
At that time, I was busy with work and didn't have much money, so I thought that eating less would be a way to save money and stay healthy. I didn't understand what intermittent fasting was; I simply thought that not eating would make me lose weight. I skipped lunch and maintained that for two years. During that time, I was basically at my healthiest. Not only did I skip lunch, but I also went swimming for about an hour before going back to work.
In the beginning, I was really hungry, feeling dizzy. After about six months, it became manageable. Even when my colleagues were eating next to me, I could remain indifferent. Then I came across intermittent fasting, gradually transitioning from skipping lunch to not eating for two consecutive 36-hour periods each week. I lost weight very quickly during this time. This was the hardest period; the concept of not eating meant that besides water, I couldn't have anything in my mouth, including fruits.
Then the pandemic hit, and I started to worry about my immunity, so I returned to a normal diet and began to gain weight again, reaching nearly 160 pounds. That's when I started my current fasting plan, where I eat one meal a day, and I can have some fruit after the meal, but I hardly eat anything else during other times.
I have quit all snacks, and I've mostly quit soda as well. Currently, I drink effervescent tablets and more juice. My average sleep is about 5 hours a day. Starting from Monday, I wake up and go swimming, hoping my body can become a bit firmer. Additionally, I need to mention that my current intermittent fasting plan can easily lead to gallstones if not done properly, so I do not recommend it; it should be adjusted according to one's own constitution.
PS: Both photos are ID photos.
