World Chain launches tools that prioritize real users over bots.

The Layer 2 (L2) blockchain World Chain, associated with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has launched a new tool that prioritizes real human users over bots to ensure transaction speed.

According to an announcement shared with Cointelegraph on Thursday, the new open-source mechanism "Prioritize Human Block Space" (PBH) on the World Chain mainnet marks the latest effort by World to build a blockchain designed specifically for humans.

This mechanism is implemented in the block construction logic of World Chain, reserving part of the top space of each block for transactions from Orb-verified real human users.

World told Cointelegraph, "In places where bots cause congestion, PBH provides a priority lane for real human users."

The network blockchain that records cryptocurrency transactions is as susceptible to bot influence as other parts of the internet, often experiencing high congestion due to bot activity.

An example of blockchain bots is trading bots, which are automated software programs that take over repetitive trading tasks on behalf of users.

According to Steven Smith, head of the Tools for Humanity (TFH) protocol, a core developer of the World project, it is estimated that up to 80% of blockchain transactions are automated, with AI agents occupying most of the on-chain activity.

A World spokesperson told Cointelegraph, "While many bots are used for effective use cases, non-productive bots like airdrop mining often lead to network congestion and high fees. Ironically, as blockchains optimize for low gas fees and high throughput, this situation often worsens."

The new human-priority mechanism of World Chain was built in collaboration with Flashbots, an Ethereum research and development organization focused on the rise of miner/extractive maximum value (MEV), which is the value miners can gain from reordering transactions within generated blocks.

MEV bots are automated programs that specifically profit from opportunities in blockchain transaction ordering.

The Flashbots team stated, "The role of the TFH team as core developers has played a significant role in enhancing its high availability and production readiness."

Other PBH collaborators include Ethereum L2 scaling solution Optimism, blockchain development platform Alchemy, and infrastructure platform Nethermind.

When addressing the bot issue both within and outside the blockchain (such as on social media platforms like X), a World spokesperson noted that there are many useful and helpful bots across various platforms.

World said, "World aims to help ensure that participants in the real human network can distinguish between human-centered and contract interactions."

Meanwhile, some industry executives, including former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, have called for a complete ban on bots on X.

Nanak Nihal, co-founder of Holonym, told Cointelegraph, "From a technical perspective, achieving this is actually easier than people think. The question now is whether big tech companies will really start prioritizing user experience?"

The World team stated, "Unlike priority systems based on gas fees or economic bidding, PBH introduces a new dimension to transaction ordering: humanity. Through PBH, Orb-verified World network participants can ensure priority access, guaranteeing reliable transaction inclusion during congestion without having to compete with bots for inclusion opportunities."
