Does BTC want to ban BRC20?

Yesterday, BTC Core indicated that it would consider banning BRC20, ORDI, and other coins, causing a sharp drop in prices. This reminded Lao Lang of the BTC fork in 2017.

At the beginning of BTC, Satoshi Nakamoto and several core members maintained nodes and exchanged technical opinions in the forum. Later, these people were called the BTC Core Development Team.

BTC Core has done two major things: 1. Resolving the double-spending crisis, 2. Defeating the expansion fork. Initially, BTC's computing power was concentrated in the hands of companies like Bitmain. If Bitmain used its computing power to launch a double-spending attack, BTC's transaction records would be invalidated, so BTC Core was responsible for balancing the computing power. In 2017, Bitmain found that BTC mining rewards would decrease over time. They proposed to increase the capacity of BTC, but on the other hand, it meant that the number of BTC nodes would decrease sharply, institutions would control the nodes, and centralization would become more serious. BTC Core strongly opposed this approach.

In the end, the two sides failed to reach an agreement, and Bitmain forked out BCH. In fact, BCH had a significant advantage at the beginning. When the fork crisis broke out, no one knew which one was the original BTC. Platforms that supported BTC Core called it BTCA, and BCH was called BTCC. Some platforms and media had a good relationship with BCH and directly changed the name of BCH to BTC.

Both domestic and foreign media criticized BTC Core for its conservative ideology, which did not align with the interests of miners. On the other hand, BTC suddenly experienced a dusting attack, causing transfers to almost fail, and BTC plummeted by 40% in the midst of the disagreement. At this time, ETH rose rapidly.

In the end, institutions such as Bitmain paid a heavy price for this fork. It is said that millions of BTC became worthless. BTC Core then rose to become the most influential development group.

In fact, BTC Core had long been dissatisfied with BRC20. Lao Lang remembers that in the middle of the year, the development team once said that BRC20 was a dusting attack. They have always insisted on Satoshi Nakamoto's viewpoint, that BTC is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

The current BTC is more like electronic gold. However, Lao Lang believes that BRC20 is the trend. If the core development team insists on banning BRC20, it will inevitably trigger a fork crisis, resulting in the emergence of forked coins, which is also a good thing.
